The new Cactus V6 radio triggers – Amazing!
I was just fooling around with the new V6 triggers with my go-to prop, my good ol’ hourlass when I decided to test the new “Lo” mode of the V6s. In this mode the flashguns fire at 1/250 of their power, therefore for extremely short lengths of time – hence “time freezes”. So much in fact that we can see the falling grains!
I used two flashguns, a key light to the right and a fill-in in a softbox to the left of the hourglass.
I wanted both the glass and grains to be in focus and f11 did the job. At such low aperture however and the flashguns at “Lo” I knew there would be not enough “power” to light the scene, therefore I brought the light sources as close as possible. Picture on the right here shows my setup.
The background is just a piece of black paper on the wall, and I turned both flashguns away from the backwall to ensure not enough light hits the wall – hence by true black background in the final shot.
